A WELCOME FROM THE CHAIRPERSON

Hello, if you’ve strayed on to our website, either by intention or accident, then welcome.

The group was established in 1984 and is made up of writers of all styles and abilities who listen to each other read and give advice and constructive criticism. We hold regular themed competitions and display a poem of the week in Johnstone Central Library where we meet, on Thursdays between 7pm and 8.45pm.

We also publish group anthologies, collections and pamphlets and have readings and workshops with guest writers. We’ve just sold out our latest collection ”My Wife Becomes a Field” and launched our series of workshops, which you can find information on about elsewhere on this site.

Members include best-selling crime author, Caro Ramsay, and leading rural poets, Jim Carruth and Betty McKellar, and several other prize-winning writers. But don’t let those names and their success put you off from coming along.  Beginners are made most welcome, honest.

So we’ll see you one Thursday, right ?

 IAN HUNTER

CHAIRPERSON.
